Abstract

This contribution presents the current distribution of snow leopards in Bhutan’s northern alpine landscapes and summarises the proposed national IUCN Red List range map. It synthesises existing publications, national survey results, and monitoring efforts to describe current understanding of population status. The chapter outlines key threats, including livestock depredation, prey dynamics, infrastructure development, and climate-related pressures. It concludes with an overview of Bhutan’s conservation framework and ongoing management actions.
