Instructions for Authors

The editors are happy to receive contributions in the form of articles, review articles, and book reviews. Manuscripts shall be submitted electronically, as a Word file through Submit manuscript. Use a common font (such as Times New Roman). For ancient languages, use Unicode. For information on the journal’s style requirements, see below. The deadline for upcoming issues is March 1 each year.

SEÅ accepts manuscripts in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, English, German and French, but all book reviews must be written in Swedish only. Articles must address issues relevant to the field of biblical exegesis. Use of gender-neutral language is advised. SEÅ will perform no language review apart from the standard proof-reading.

All manuscripts shall be accompanied with a first page containing the following information: full name of the author, including affiliations and contact information, the main title of the article, an abstract in English (no more than 250 words), 5–10 keywords, and the total number of words in the article. The author’s name shall not appear in the article proper. Maximum length is 7,500 words.

If you want to review a book, send a proposal to the review editor, who will judge the relevance of the book to SEÅ and contact the publishers. Once completed, the review shall be submitted as a Word file through Submit manuscript. Reviews should not exceed 8,000 characters, including spaces, and information about author, title, publisher, format, pages, price and ISBN shall be supplied. The deadline for the reviews is March 1 each year.

Manuscripts shall follow The SBL Handbook of Style, 2nd edition (2014), in matters of style. SEÅ uses the footnote system where complete publication data should be supplied in the first note referring to a given source. Subsequent notes in the same work referring to the same source should use an abbreviated form. For any additional questions regarding the preparation and submission of manuscripts, contact David Davage.
