About the Journal

Aims & Scope

Childhood in the Anthropocene (CiA) publishes ongoing research in the field of educational sciences, with a special focus on childhood and sustainability, including education and learning for sustainability in the preschool and early school years. The journal publishes 1–2 issues per year and contains articles in the Nordic languages ― Swedish, Norwegian and Danish ― plus English.

The journal welcomes high quality manuscripts that fit within the journal's fields of childhood and sustainability. Manuscripts may be in the form of research articles or critical debate-type articles, as well as reviews of doctoral theses and other scholarly texts in the field.

The target group for the journal is researchers who are interested in research in the field of educational sciences with a special focus on childhood and sustainability, including education and learning for sustainability in the preschool and early school years. The journal will also be of interest to teachers, principals, policy makers and other professionals working across the preschool and early school years

Research colleagues are invited to submit ideas for thematic issues and, upon approval by the editorial board, act as guest editors for these issues.

The journal was established in 2024 to meet the need for an open access journal in the research field of childhood and sustainability.

Submitted contributions will be first reviewed by the editor-in-chief to consider alignment with the journal aims, and then a further review will be implemented through a double-blind peer review procedure, via the journal's publishing program, Open Journal Systems.
