About the Journal
The peer-reviewed journal Opuscula is published yearly, in November, by the Swedish Institutes at Athens and Rome.
The annual contains articles within classical archaeology, ancient history, art, architecture and philology, as well as research reviews and book reviews within these subjects. Reports on fieldwork carried out under the auspices of the Institutes at Athens and Rome are regularly published in Opuscula.
The annual welcomes contributions pertaining to the ancient Mediterranean world (Prehistory to Late Antiquity) and the Classical tradition. Contributions dealing with later periods are also welcomed, especially if they deal with the cultural ties between Northern Europe and the Mediterranean area.
Opuscula provides a well-established international forum for research within all areas of classical archaeology and ancient history. The journal aims to be a high-ranking and widely distributed channel for outstanding research. Serving as the main channel for Swedish archaeological research in the Mediterranean, Opuscula strives to provide a strong international academic impact for its peer reviewers, as well as its authors and their research.
Opuscula primarily serves the communication of research results between scholars. However, all contributions should be written in a clear and succinct language, to enable a broader circle of readers to engage with current research.
The bibliographical abbreviation for Opuscula is OpAthRom. Opuscula is indexed by ERIH-PLUS, Web of Science as well as Scopus. See Opuscula‘s profile at Scimago Journal Rank. Contributions to Opuscula are registered at Crossref and receive Digital Object Identifiers (DOI:s).
First issued in 2008, Opuscula replaces the annuals Opuscula Atheniensia (OpAth) and Opuscula Romana (OpRom), published by the Swedish Institutes at Athens and Rome respectively.
