Abstract

This contribution presents the current distribution of snow leopards in Uzbekistan’s Western Tien Shan and Western Pamir-Alay systems and summarises the proposed national IUCN Red List range map. It reviews national monitoring results, including occupancy surveys and camera trapping, to describe current understanding of population status. The chapter outlines key threats in Uzbekistan, including livestock depredation and conflict, prey decline due to illegal hunting, infrastructure development, and increasing human disturbance. It concludes with an overview of current conservation and monitoring efforts in the country.
