This article synthesises current knowledge on the distribution, population status, and conservation of the snow leopard (Panthera uncia) in China, which holds the largest share of the species’ global range. Drawing on available data and recent assessments, it highlights broad patterns of habitat use, key knowledge gaps, and ongoing conservation challenges. The study underscores the need for improved monitoring, stronger landscape connectivity, and coordinated efforts to support long-term conservation outcomes within China.
