The purpose of the study was to investigate how 17 students in grade 5 in a public school in Stockholm were affected by the corona pandemic and the students’ different coping strategies during the pandemic. The individual semistructured interviews were analyzed through a thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006). According to the results the students felt that practical restrictions such as keeping distance and washing hands was troublesome. Concerns about the health of the family was emphasized as well as problems with visiting the part of the family that did not live in Sweden. A majority expressed that socializing with peers, to go to school and participating in leisure activities was important during the pandemic. The importance of relationships and school for existential health was confirmed in the study.
