Abstract

This study explores social workers’ experiences of a title change during the period 2022-2023 within elder care services in the City of Gothenburg. The aim is to examine how the change is perceived in relation to professionalization and what social workers wish to engage more with in their professional roles. A web-based survey was completed by 76 social workers. The social workers call for conditions that enable more preventive, relationship-based, and knowledge-based practice. The study highlights the need for further research on the structural and professional conditions that enable social workers to effectively plan and implement preventive interventions.
