Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • I, the submitting author, warrant that I have the permission of any and all co-authors to submit this manuscript, that any co-authors can be considered as such according to the journal's authorship criteria and that I have permission to be their spokesperson during the review process and beyond. I also approve distribution with the CC license the journal uses, and this too has been approved by co-authors.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • If there is more than one author, we have reached an agreement on the ordering of author names. All author names are provided as we want them to appear in the final published article. If available, ORCID numbers are provided for all authors.
  • All material presented in the manuscript where copyright is held by third parties has been properly produced and necessary permissions have been obtained from the submitting author.
  • I have a separate list of all references used, including their DOI numers and URLs where available. This will need to be submitted into the editorial system for indexing purposes.
  • References follow the three Cs: clarity, consistency and consideration for the reader.
  • I have included an abstract not exceeding 1500 characters including spaces.
  • The submission document has been fully anonymized. This includes the removal of author names and affiliations in the document text as well as author metadata in the document properties.
  • The text is single spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. We may contact you at a later stage in the process to obtain higher resolution files if necessary.
  • The submission file is in PDF document file format. Upon acceptance of the manuscript, an editable file will be provided.
  • We would appreciate it if you took the time to fill in reviewer interests in our submission system as you create your account so that we can contact you for future reviewer assignments.
