Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • I, the submitting author, warrant that, where applicable, I have the permission of all co-authors to submit this version of the manuscript according to the journal's authorship criteria and to be their spokesperson during the review process and beyond. I also approve distribution with the CC license the journal uses (CC BY-NC 4.0), and this too has been approved by co-authors.
  • All authors of the manuscript are qualified to be considered as such, in accordance with the guidelines set forth in criteria for authorship and all have given their permission to be listed in the submitted manuscript.
  • The manuscript has not been previously published in the current submitted version, nor is it under consideration by another journal. If the manuscript has been published in an earlier version, this should be clearly indicated; see the journal's editorial guidelines. and ethics policy statement (Feel free to enter an explanation in the box "Comments to the editor" if relevant).
  • Necessary permissions have been obtained from the submitting author for any material presented in the manuscript where copyright is held by third parties. See the journal's ethics policy statement
  • All individuals or groups of individuals who can be identified in a study, or their guardians, have signed informed consent documents, thereby giving their consent for the submitted manuscript to be published under a CC license. See the journal's ethics policy statement
  • Where applicable, the research has been reviewed by an appropriate ethics committee and the name of the committee and approval reference number included in the submitted manuscript. See the journal's ethics policy statement
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The manuscript files uploaded for review are anonymized according to journal policy.
  • Where available, hyperlinked DOIs for the references have been provided.
  • I have included a research impact section in the manuscript.

Original Articles

Original articles should be substantive papers that contribute theoretically and empirically to the field of public administration and public management with a specific focus on the Scandinavian context. Initial submission should not exceed 8 000 words (excluding references) and abstracts should not exceed 200 words. Manuscripts must include a research impact section with three to five bullet points signifying the study's practical/policy relevance. This should be included in the manuscript after the abstract.

Viewpoint Articles

Viewpoint articles should address the current issues, challenges, developments within the field of public administration and public management with a specific focus on the Scandinavian context, and contribute to the scholarly debate with thought-provocative opinions and critical reflections. Manuscripts submitted for consideration in this section are subject to double-blind review process. Initial submission should not exceed 5 000 words (including references), and abstracts should not exceed 200 words. Manuscripts must include a research impact section with three to five bullet points signifying the study's practical/policy relevance. This should be included in the manuscript after the abstract.

Book Reviews

Book reviews should concern publications that have specific interest for the field of public administration or public management from around the world. Reviews could also concern a cluster of different publications on a specific aspect of public administration or public management. Manuscripts submitted for consideration in this section are subject to double-blind review process. Reviews should be around 1000 to 2000 words and abstracts (if any) should not exceed 200 words.
