This text discusses the importance of narrative medicine in creating a sustainable healthcare environment. It emphasizes the need to consider both patient and caregiver narratives, to enhance care quality. The Swedish Association for Obstetrics and Gynecology (SFOG) has integrated narrative medicine into their training programs, offering annual courses and publishing articles to promote sustainable practices. The text highlights various initiatives, including resilience-building exercises, gratitude journals, and structured communication techniques like SBAR for the soul. These methods aim to improve psychological safety, reduce stress, and foster a supportive work environment. The text also addresses the shift away from traditional psychological debriefing towards more nuanced, person-centered reparative crisis support. Teaching skills and organizing space to allow for a safe, complex and healing narrative to gently develop for patients, their families, healthcare personnel and leaders alike.
