To make well-informed decisions about resource allocation, models are needed that not only synthesize costs and outcomes but also handle uncertainty and complexity. In the welfare sector, where data availability is often limited and knowledge of causal relationships is uncertain, decision-making becomes particularly challenging. In such contexts, health economic models can not only support prioritization but also enhance transparency and understanding of the decision-making process. This text highlights how these models, when applied appropriately, can strengthen decision-making within the welfare sector.
