Reviewer instructions

JPHE would like to nurture and encourage scholarship, not discourage it. We ask that as a reviewer you give concrete suggestions on how to improve the manuscript. We are promising our readers a thorough and careful reading of submissions, so please do point out any strong and innovative parts, in addition to any shortcomings you may find, particularly in relation to:

  • The paper’s contribution to debate and knowledge
  • Relevance for the journal
  • Scholarship regarding methodology and/or theoretical reasoning
  • Originality
  • Clarity

If you feel that you do not have the relevant expertise required to review the manuscript or believe that there might be a conflict of interest, please communicate this promptly to the Editors so that another reviewer can be assigned. If you feel that certain parts of the manuscript are not within the scope of your expertise (e.g., a particular theory or method), please indicate this in the review form. If necessary, an additional reviewer will be recruited to review these parts of the manuscript.

Please write your comments in the Review Form (RF) and submit it via OJS. If the Senior Editor who is handling the manuscript has any further questions, he/she will come back to you for clarification.
