At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, it became clear that some individuals experienced lingering symptoms after the infection, such as fatigue. This condition, known as post COVID-19 condition, is defined by WHO as persistent or new symptoms three months after the initial infection, lasting for at least two months, and not attributable to another diagnosis. Hence, the definition is very broad and the fact that there is an identification of 200 post COVID symptoms highlights its complex symptomatology. This article examines how post COVID is interpreted by different stakeholders, analyzed through the perspective of sociology of diagnosis and post COVID as a boundary object. Thirty-six experts were interviewed and our results show epistemological tensions regarding the diagnosis’s epidemiology, etiology, treatment, and symptom expression.
