Ann Werner is Senior Lecturer in Musicology at Uppsala University and Associate Professor (Docent) in
Gender Studies at Södertörn University, Sweden. Her work is mainly concerned with music, gender, and
media including studies of audiences, musical representations, technologies, and institutions of music. Her latest article “The Mediation of Genre, Identity, and Difference in Contemporary (Popular) Music
Streaming” is co-written with Veronika Muchitsch in the journal Twentieth Century Music February 2024.

About the journal
The main focus of Puls is ethnomusicology and ethnochoreology, but the journal also embraces adjacent disciplines, such as other aspects of musicology and choreology, folklore studies, comparative literature, and related studies of traditional and popular culture.
The journal focuses on discussion of the expressions, roles and functions of music and dancing in society. Each issue of Puls presents articles, book reviews and conference reports in the field of music and dance research.
