This study explores children’s lived experiences and perspectives on their rights during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through qualitative methods, data was collected from 22 children in Umeå, showing how the pandemic affected their lives and learning. The children appreciated how Sweden handled the pandemic but also felt that their physical and mental health was negatively affected. Distance learning posed several challenges, including technological inequalities and lack of support from teachers. Children emphasised the need for better communication and information sharing and suggested more channels to communicate with decision-makers. They also emphasised the importance of investing in school health and addressing inequalities and discrimination. The findings emphasise the importance of integrating children’s perspectives into decision-making and crisis preparedness to ensure that their rights are protected and promoted. This study highlights the importance of children’s voices in creating a more equitable and inclusive future.
