Abstract

It was a fortune timing in the beginning of 1970s between health politics at Skaraborg county and social medicine at Lund university, which contributed to the development of local public health work. The novel health plan was operationalized by the establishment of a Community Health Unit. The unit developed during the period 1972 – 1987 epidemiological tools and evidence based local health prevention projects on relevant risk factors. An overview of the political considerations and the following results is presented.
