The first female medical doctor in Sweden started public sexual education for girls in 1897 despite warnings and threats. This brave initiative was further developed by Elise Ottesen Jensen, world famous discussant for free abortion. A school nurse in Stockholm fulfilled the sexual education initiative as a beacon for others until it was stated as a formal and mandatory assignment for teachers in 1955. Sweden is world-leading in developing techniques and content according to changing assignment requirements. A general assignment is to meet the schoolchildren’s ideas with evidence-based initiatives in rapidly changing prerequisites.
