Abstract

The Swedish Sleep Apnea Registry (SESAR) celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2025.
This milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on its development, key achievements, and future challenges. The assessment and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in Sweden is a multidisciplinary field involving clinicians in pulmonology, otorhinolaryngology, dentistry, neurophysiology, cardiology, as well as independent sleep clinics. The purpose of SESAR is to collect data from these stakeholders in a national quality registry in order to reflect the patient’s often complex care pathway and to enable quality improvement at the national level.
