At present, we are witnessing a surge in dystopian productions that have succeeded in positioning themselves at the core of mainstream culture and the collective imagination. Within academic circles, there is also a debate regarding the presumably conservative or subversive nature of these fictions. This article is based on the premise that critical dystopias, created in dialogue with posthuman feminism, offer a critique that challenges the anthropocentric and androcentric worldview in order to create a more equitable and just world (Braidotti, Haraway, etc.). Feminist critical dystopias play a crucial role in the socio-political (re)production of figures of exclusion, aiding in the prevention of the worst imaginable future. The article provides a theoretical approach that lays the foundation for the analysis of dystopias in the context of posthuman feminism. Furthermore, it reviews the articles included in this special issue that examine dystopian/utopian narratives produced in Latin America and Spain. These articles focus on figures marked by exclusion related to migration, gender, sexuality, labour, and violence. The importance of issues concerning gender, sexuality, and freedom is linked in this corpus to the advocacy of a common living space, shared by humans and non-humans, in accordance with posthuman feminism.
