 INTRODUKTION

Temanummer är särskilda nummer som fokuserar på ett specifikt ämne eller område inom tidskriftens ram. Vi välkomnar temanummer på svenska men även på engelska. Vi välkomnar särskilt förslag som behandlar kritiska, kreativa och innovativa teman och som visar ett tydligt engagemang för mångfald, inkludering och jämlikhet genom hela processen.

Varje temanummer föregås av en öppen Call for Papers. Alla inskickade manuskript genomgår en initial granskning av gästredaktörerna, följt av en double-blind peer review-process, i enlighet med de standarder som gäller för ordinarie nummer.

Att publicera ett temanummer är ett omfattande arbete som vanligtvis tar minst ett år från förslag till publicering. Rollen som gästredaktör är krävande, och vi rekommenderar att ansvaret delas mellan minst två personer.

MALL FÖR FÖRSLAG TILL SPECIAL ISSUE

För att föreslå ett temanummer, vänligen kontakta redaktionen för PfS och bifoga följande information:

  • Titel
    Ange en kort och beskrivande titel som tydligt speglar utgåvans tematiska fokus.
  • Temanumrets fokus.
    Beskriv förslaget till temanumret genom att tydligt motivera ämnets relevans och aktualitet samt dess koppling till PfS inriktningar. Inkludera en kort översikt över aktuell forskning inom området. Beskriv ämnets betydelse för tidskriftens läsare och det akademiska fältet i stort, och förklara hur utgåvan uppvisar kritiskt tänkande, kreativitet och originalitet.
  • Granskningsprocess
    Beskriv hur ni planerar att organisera granskningsprocessen innan manuskripten skickas in till tidskriftens redaktionssystem.
  • Utkast till Call for papers
    Bifoga ett preliminärt utkast till Call for Papers (max 1000 ord)
  • Möjliga författare
    Om möjligt, inkludera en lista över potentiella författare med titlar, namn och – om tillgängligt – sammanfattningar av föreslagna artiklar.
  • Granskare
    Bifoga en lista med potentiella granskare som kan användas i PfS double blind peer review-process. Eftersträva en ge förslag på en granskare per bidrag.
  • Preliminär tidsplan
    Ange en preliminär tidsplan för temanumret, inklusive:
    • Datum för publicering av Call for Papers
    • Förväntat datum för första inskick av manus till gästredaktörerna
    • Sista datum för gästredaktörernas granskning
    • Deadline för gästredaktörerna att skicka in lista över utvalda bidragsgivare till PfS huvudredaktörer
  •  Information om gästredaktörer.
    Ange följande information för varje föreslagen gästredaktör:
    • Titel och fullständigt namn
    • Institutionell tillhörighet och hemsida
    • Institutionell e-postadress
    • Akademiska intresseområden
    • Kort biografi med relevanta kvalifikationer och erfarenheter, särskilt i relation till det föreslagna Special Issue

RIKTLINJER FÖR GÄSTREDAKTÖRER

Temanummer leds vanligtvis av minst två gästredaktörer. Som gästredaktör förväntas du ha en stark forskningsbakgrund inom det föreslagna ämnesområdet, samt möjlighet att avsätta tillräckligt med tid för att hantera manus och hålla regelbunden kontakt med PfS huvudredaktörer.

Alla förslag, inklusive förslag av gästredaktörer, genomgår en granskning. Om ett förslag eller en föreslagen gästredaktör inte uppfyller tidskriftens kriterier, förbehåller sig PfS rätten att begära att förslaget dras tillbaka och/eller att gästredaktörer byts ut. Redaktionen kan även begära ändringar i förslaget innan det går vidare i processen. Slutgiltigt godkännande av ett temanummer ges av tidskriftens redaktionsråd. PfS förbehåller sig rätten att avbryta eller avslå ett temanummer när som helst i processen.

Vi uppmuntrar deltagande av gästredaktörer, författare och granskare som visar engagemang för mångfald, inkludering och rättvisa. Vi uppmuntrar också en process som ger särskilt stöd till forskare i början av sin akademiska karriär.

För att undvika överlappningar mellan temanummer säkerställer redaktionen för PfS att temanummer med liknande teman inte publiceras samtidigt.

FRÅN FÖRSLAG TILL PUBLICERING OCH SPRIDNING: STEG-FÖR-STEG

  1. Inskick av förslag.
    Skicka förslag till Special Issue till huvudredaktörerna enligt den angivna mallen.
  2. Redaktionell granskning.
    PfS redaktion bedömer förslaget utifrån tematisk relevans, kvalitet och genomförbarhet. Bedömningen tar vanligtvis två till fyra veckor.
  3. Call for Papers.
    Vid godkännande publiceras en öppen Call for Papers för att bjuda in bidrag via PfS webbplats och relevanta akademiska kanaler.
  4. Initial manusgranskning.
    Gästredaktörerna tar emot och bedömer inskickade manuskript och avgör vilka som är lämpliga för inkludering i temanummer. Denna fas beräknas ta upp till sex månader.
  5. Dialog med PfS om utvalda artiklar.
    Gästredaktörerna skickar en lista med utvalda författare, titlar och samman-fattningar till PfS redaktionsråd.
  6. Formellt inskick av manuskript till PfS
    Författarna bjuds in att skicka in sina manuskript till PfS system där de genomgår tidskriftens standardiserade double blind peer review-process. Denna fas beräknas ta upp till sex månader.
  7. Slutlig förberedelse
    När granskningsprocessen är avslutad ombeds gästredaktörerna att skicka in en introducerande text. Temanumret färdigställs i PfS system, inklusive layout och redaktionella kontroller.
  8. Lansering och spridning
    Temanumret publiceras och sprids via PfS webbplats och relevanta akademiska kanaler.

 

 

INTRODUCTION 

Special Issues are thematic editions dedicated to a specific topic or area within the scope of the journal. We particularly welcome proposals that engage with critical, creative, and innovative themes, and that demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and equity throughout the process.

Each Special Issue is preceded by an open Call for Papers. All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial review by the Guest Editors, followed by a double-blind peer-review process, consistent with the standards applied to regular issues.

The publication of a Special Issue is a substantial undertaking, typically requiring a minimum of one year from proposal to publication. The role of Guest Editor is demanding, and we strongly recommend that responsibilities be shared between at least two individuals.

SPECIAL ISSUE PROPOSAL FORM

To propose a Special Issue, please contact the editorial board and include the following information:

  • Title
    Provide a concise and descriptive preliminary title that reflects the thematic focus of the issue.
  • SI focus or theme
    Submit a brief proposal outlining the scope and thematic boundaries of the Special Issue. The proposal should clearly articulate the relevance and necessity of the issue, including a justification of its timeliness. Please include a short review of recent research on related topics and a summary of the current state of research in the field. Describe the significance of the proposed theme for the journal’s readership and the broader academic community, and explain how the issue demonstrates critical engagement, creativity, and originality.
  • Peer Review Organisation
    Outline your intended approach to managing the peer review process prior to submission of manuscripts to the journal’s editorial system.
  • Call for Papers
    Provide a preliminary draft of the Call for Papers (maximum 1,000 words), suitable for publication.
  • Potential Contributors
    If available, include a list of prospective contributors, including titles, author names, and—where possible—abstracts of proposed papers.
  • Suggested Reviewers
    Submit a list of potential reviewers to support the double-blind peer review process administered by PfS. Aim for one suggestion per manuscript.
  • Tentative Timeline
    Provide a provisional schedule for the Special Issue, including:
    • Date for publication of the Call for Papers
    • Expected date for initial submission of manuscripts to the Guest Editors
    • Final date for completion of Guest Editors’ review
    • Deadline for Guest Editors to submit the list of selected contributors to the PfS Lead Editors
    • Final deadline for authors to submit manuscripts to the PfS double-blind peer review system
  •  Guest Editor Information
    Include the following details for each proposed Guest Editor:
    • Title and full name
    • Institutional affiliation and homepage
    • Institutional email address
    • Fields of academic interest
    • A brief biography outlining relevant qualifications and experience, particularly in relation to the proposed Special Issue

GUIDANCE FOR GUEST EDITORS OF SPECIAL ISSUES

Special Issues are typically overseen by a minimum of two Guest Editors. As a Guest Editor, you are expected to possess a strong research record within the thematic scope of the proposed issue, as well as the capacity to dedicate sufficient time to managing submissions and maintaining regular communication with the PfS Lead Editors.

All proposals, including nominations for Guest Editors, are subject to a standard screening and verification process. Should any proposal or suggested Guest Editor fail to meet the journal’s criteria, PfS reserves the right to request withdrawal of the proposal and/or replacement of the Guest Editors. The editorial team may also request revisions to the proposal prior to further consideration.

We encourage Guest Editors to propose a list of contributors and reviewers that demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and equity throughout the editorial process. In addition, we encourage Guest editors to actively support early-career researchers throughout the editorial process.

Final approval of any Special Issue proposal rests with the journal’s Editorial Board. PfS retains the right to decline or discontinue any Special Issue at any stage, for any reason, and at its sole discretion.

To avoid thematic duplication, the editorial team will ensure that Special Issues on similar topics are not launched concurrently.

FROM PROPOSAL TO PUBLICATION AND PROMOTION: STEP-BY-STEP

  1. Submission of Proposal
    Submit your Special Issue proposal to the Lead Editors, following the prescribed template.
  2. Editorial Review
    The PfS editorial team will assess the proposal for thematic relevance, quality, and feasibility. The Editorial Board and publishing team typically require two to four weeks to assess submitted proposals.
  3. Call for Papers
    Upon approval, an open Call for Papers will be published to invite submissions via the PfS website and relevant academic channels.
  4. Initial Manuscript Review
    Guest Editors will receive and assess submitted manuscripts, determining which papers are suitable for inclusion in the Special Issue. This stage is expected to require around up to six months.
  5. Dialogue with PfS regarding Selected Papers
    Guest Editors will submit a list of selected authors, titles, and abstracts to the PfS Editorial Board.
  6. Formal Submission to Peer Review system
    Authors will be invited to submit their manuscripts to the PfS system, where they will undergo the journal’s standard double-blind peer review process. This stage is expected to require around up to six months.
  7. Final Preparation
    Once the peer review process is complete, Guest Editors will be asked to submit an introductory editorial for the Special Issue. The Special Issue will be finalised within the PfS submission system, including layout and editorial checks.
  8. Launch and Promotion
    The Special Issue will be published and promoted via the PfS website and relevant academic channels.
