Weighted blankets have been used in healthcare as a non-pharmacological treatment option. However, evidence on the effects of weighted blankets on sleep has been lacking. A crossover randomized controlled trial was conducted to evaluate the effect of weighted blankets on sleep disturbances in children aged 6–14 years with ADHD. The results showed increased total sleep time, improved sleep efficiency, and reduced wake time during the night, but no difference in sleep onset latency when using a weighted blanket compared to a lighter control blanket. Parents reported a reduction in their children's sleep problems, and children reported improved sleep quality. However, no differences were observed in self-reported sleep problems when using a weighted blanket compared to a control blanket.
