The importance of sleep for children’s health and development is well established, yet the way we assess sleep problems in children remains a challenge. The article “An Umbrella Review Summarising Assessment Instruments for Children in the Field of Sleep” (Lönn et al., 2025) provides a long-awaited overview of available assessment instruments and represents an important step toward more structured and evidence-based assessment. However, it also raises reflections regarding methodological choices, particularly the limitation inherent in including only previously published systematic reviews.
