Abstract

Artikeln analyserar hur rektorer verksamma i strukturellt missgynnade storstadsområden i Sverige (SMS-områden) diskursivt positionerar sitt ledarskap i relation till social rättviseteori (SRT) och Foucaults begrepp pastoral makt. Empirin består av fokusgruppsamtal med 20 rektorer inom ett professionellt nätverk, analyserade genom tematisk analys. Resultaten visar hur rektorer navigerar komplexa spänningar mellan strukturella begränsningar, institutionella krav och professionsetiska grunder för att främja social rättvisa. Tre centrala dimensioner av SRT – omfördelning, erkännande och representation – framträder i rektorernas beskrivningar och samspelar med pastorala former av maktutövning, där omsorg, ansvarstagande och förändringsvilja både möjliggör och riskerar att begränsa rättvisearbetet. Studien synliggör hur rektorer försöker motverka strukturell ojämlikhet genom strategisk resursfördelning, relationsorienterat ledarskap och aktivt påverkansarbete, samtidigt som deras handlingsutrymme formas och begränsas av styrningsstrukturer. Genom en kontextspecifik inramning utifrån det svenska utbildningssystemet bidrar studien till vidareutvecklingen av forskning om socialt rättvist skolledarskap i Sverige. Studien uppmanar till en mer reflexiv förståelse av skolledarskapets pastorala dimensioner, problematiserar likvärdighetsbegreppets koppling till regelstyrning och föreslår en tillämpning av SRT:s kritiska och transformerande ambition för en utbildning med sikte på social rättvisa för enskilda och grupper i ett längre perspektiv.
