Saami loan etymologies are presented for three Meänkieli nouns featuring the foreign consonant cluster /tn/: katnanen : katnas- ‘hip bone’ (< North Saami gátnis : gádnás- ‘sacrum’), ketnia ‘protective spirit’ (< Lule Saami genij : gednih- ‘mythological subterranean being’), and tutna ‘owl’ (< North Saami dutna id.).
