I denna artikel studeras kyrkans profetiska roll utifrån berättelsen om de två vittnena i Upp 11:3–13. Den tolkas som en liknelse för kyrkans profetiska roll, vilken ställs i kontrast till den falska profeten. I berättelsen framgår det att den profetiska rollen är synonym med att vara ett trofast vittne, fylld av ande och vittnande om Jesus. Vidare argumenteras för att denna vision av kyrkan kan beskrivas som ett allmänt profetdöme där varje troende är kallad till att vara profetisk.
