Cracks in the façade. The stone buildings west of Dalby church and a discussion about paradigm. In the 1960s, remains of two stone buildings were discovered west of Dalby church. Erik Cinthio interpreted them as a royal palace with an atrium and
an arcade, a view that has been widely accepted since. However, in 2010, Jes Wienberg suggested that the buildings had been part of the 12th century Augustinian monastery. Archaeological evidence further supports this hypothesis. This prompts
the question of why the palace hypothesis has not been challenged more. Could our perception of Dalby be biased by a one-sided perspective that favours the elite, thereby limiting our perspectives in the field of church archaeology and the study
of Romanesque towers? It is important to consider both hypothese
