Axmar ironworks is a site of cultural heritage in the north of Gästrikland. In the past, there were two main buildings here, among other structures, which were demolished several years ago. Today the blast furnace remains, along with a beautiful gazebo, an English-style park and the former greenhouse. It is less obvious today that gardens once existed in the area. Beneath the surface, a well-preserved system of garden pathways remains. Through garden archaeology, we are beginning to create a clearer picture of the historic gardens and the park. The restoration of the gardens and pathways is now underway.
