The article investigates how Swedish evangelicalism articulates a public voice in a post-Christian context, focusing on the Swedish Evangelical Alliance (SEA) and Apologia. Through a theological and discourse-analytical reading, the author demonstrates that both actors—despite employing different strategies—tend to reproduce a theology shaped by the loss of a former majority position. The article argues that this results in an apologetic and culturally defensive posture that overlooks the potential for a more critical and contextually attentive theology. Drawing inspiration from a diasporic theological perspective, it is instead proposed that Swedish evangelicalism should embrace its marginalized position in secular society, not as a loss but as the starting point for a renewed missional understanding. Rather than seeking to reclaim public influence, the evangelical voice should be shaped by dialogue, humility, and self-reflection. The article thus contributes to the development of a political theology grounded in the church’s sense of pilgrimage and estrangement in the world, rather than in an ambition to reestablish cultural dominance.
