En tolkande fenomenologisk analys av sju kvinnors berättelser

Abstract

Being a lone mother, the sole breadwinner of the household, and temporarily employed, brings about immense challenges to making ends meet. Working irregular hours, or at short notice, with insecure and insufficient finance, poorly suits children’s need for regularity, stability and the daily presence of their parent(s). In this article we explore narratives based on in-depth interviews with seven temporarily employed single mothers. Drawing on an interpretative phenomenological analysis, we depart from the mothers’ point of view, showing their experiences of challenges and efforts, as well as their descriptions of strategies and solutions to manage everyday life.
