Om en "etisk model" for genetisk forskning i Västerbotten

Abstract

In 1999 a new genomics company gained all commercial rights to a population based biobank in Västerbotten, Sweden. It has given rise to hardly any public discussion. The smooth introduction, according to the company, is a result of its development of a so-called ethical model aiming at solving all ethical problems related to genetic research in biobanks. This article, written from an anthropological perspective, suggests that the ethical model has social implications requiring further exploration.
