My study is about cultural images of female strategies regarding the objectification of women. These images are helping women in creating new role models within the heterosexual interplay. From the beginning of the first punk-wave in the seventies one can find a sort of female "take whatever you want" attitude in literature and popular culture addressed to young women. I have taken examples from the soap Melrose Place, the idols Madonna and La Camilla, and the authorship of Unni Drougge and Louise Boije av Gennäs. All these images of female strategies have in common the rejection of the traditional female gender role and an ironic attitude towards life. This ironcy includes reflexiveness towards the objectifying voyeuristic male gaze but it also facilitates the presentation of the female body as an object of display.
