Abstract

Rituals related to possession and care of collector's glass objects are discussed in this article which is based on interviews with 24 glass collectors. The purpose of the article is to describe the rituals collectors use and create in their home environment. The visual display is very important among glass collectors. The light is continuously emphasized as important. Transformation from glass objects for usability to art glass is evident. Rituals related to dusting and cleaning are noticable. The glass collector's objects were exhibited in a museum. The glass objects were considered sacred in collector's homes before the exhibition, but even more so after the exhibition. The exhibition reinforced the value of the glass collected.
