The article is about what happens when an ethnographer goes into the field and asks people to fill a small and indeterminate word like waiting with thoughts, experiences and recollections. The author discusses in what ways waiting as a research topic was problematic, but also how she finally did arrive at a slightly different methodology and a more experimental writing method. Waiting as a dynamic intervening space opened unexpected doors into a reflexive ethnography that does not shy away from the existential.
